Laser cutting and welding applications can be extremely dangerous and are, therefore, often automated. The environment surrounding laser and welding applications also poses a greater challenge with varying conditions and lighting.
In the example below, an automotive manufacturer used Perceptron's automated solution to guide their robot mounted welding guns.
Laser welding process:
- Measurements are taken around the part
- An offset is calculated based on the measurement results
- Robot receives offset and directs welding gun
- Laser cutting and welding are adjusted based on the actual part instead of design intent
