Laser Cutting & Welding

Laser cutting and welding applications can be extremely dangerous and are, therefore, often automated.  The environment surrounding laser and welding applications also poses a greater challenge with varying conditions and lighting.

In the example below, an automotive manufacturer used Perceptron's automated solution to guide their robot mounted welding guns.

Laser welding process:

  1. Measurements are taken around the part
  2. An offset is calculated based on the measurement results
  3. Robot receives offset and directs welding gun
  4. Laser cutting and welding are adjusted based on the actual part instead of design intent
